The parking
staff at the cabbage patch are friendly and
will guide you in and point out an available
parking place for your scoot. Although bands
play outside under covered canopies the real
entertainment at the cabbage patch is people
watching.
The back lot of the Cabbage Patch is where
the parking, vendors, camping, coleslaw
wrestling and most of the other activities
take place. The vendors sell New Orleans
style beads and some of the more spirited women have
a large collection. The Cabbage Patch is a
privately owned and operated by Ronnie
Luznar , who
is a for the most part is a straight up kind a guy. The Beer is
$2.50 a can, more importantly the
bottled water is $1.00.
Except for the day of
the coleslaw wrestling. The beer is $5.00 a
can...ouch. There are several
bars and they do serve mixed drinks.
The
inside
bar is small, but full of character. Even
off season, the Cabbage Patch is the kind of
bar weekend bikers come to sit around and
talk. It's a safe place to hang out. (slip
the parking guy a fiver and ask him to keep
and extra eye watch
your scoot). It is rare to hear of a crime
being committed there (aside from
indecent exposure), but it's nice to
know someone is being vigilant.
During peak hours or events,
Deputies will be in the area for security.
The deputies will most likely enforce minor violations at the Cabbage
Patch during the coleslaw wrestling. Probably
to establish a presence and keep the crowd
under control.
This is a great place to meet
people, socialize and people watching. The
staff is friendly and service quick. The
waitresses are local girls, willing to work
their butts off for a tip.
We have video of the coleslaw
wrestling event bike week 2004 and will make
it available as soon as possible. Our
cameraman was not happy about the price of
the beer near the coleslaw pit. Give
us a break, Ronnie! |
